Pixar’s main Toy Story series contains four feature films through 2019.
The films are Toy Story, released in 1995; Toy Story 2, released in 1999; Toy Story 3, released in 2010; and Toy Story 4, released in 2019. Together, they follow Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their fellow toys through changing owners and different stages of childhood.
The number can be confusing because the franchise also includes television specials, theatrical short films, spin-off productions and the 2022 film Lightyear. Those projects expand the Toy Story universe but are not additional numbered entries in the main Toy Story feature series.
Toy Story 4 was presented as the conclusion of Woody’s central story, while later franchise announcements and spin-offs created new ways to revisit the characters and setting. For a count of the numbered main films released by 2019, the answer is four.
