Which tennis coach guided Novak Djokovic during his dominant 2011 season?

The story behind the answer

Marián Vajda guided Novak Djokovic during his dominant 2011 tennis season.

Vajda had begun coaching Djokovic in 2006, making him the Serbian player's longtime technical mentor during the rise to the top of men's tennis. In 2011, Djokovic opened the year with a 41-match winning streak before losing to Roger Federer in the French Open semifinals.

That season, Djokovic went 70–6, won 10 tournaments, and captured the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open. He reached the world No. 1 ranking for the first time on July 4 and finished the year there. His six victories over Rafael Nadal included finals on both hard courts and clay, a striking reversal of Djokovic's earlier struggles against Nadal on clay.

Boris Becker joined Djokovic's coaching team from late 2013 through 2016, so he was not the coach associated with the 2011 breakthrough. Goran Ivanišević became part of Djokovic's team much later, while Andre Agassi worked with him briefly in 2017. Vajda and Djokovic later separated in 2022 after coaching together for most of Djokovic's career.
