Which coach led the Green Bay Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV?
Answer
Mike McCarthy
Answer
Mike McCarthy
Mike McCarthy led the Green Bay Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV. Green Bay defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31–25 on February 6, 2011, at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
McCarthy had been the Packers’ head coach since 2006 and guided a resilient 2010 team through an injury-filled season. Green Bay finished 10–6, entered the playoffs as the NFC’s sixth seed, and won three road games before reaching the Super Bowl. The Packers then built an early lead and held off Pittsburgh’s second-half comeback.
Aaron Rodgers was named Super Bowl MVP after throwing for 304 yards and three touchdowns. The victory gave Green Bay its fourth Super Bowl title and its first since the 1996 season. Mike Holmgren coached the Packers’ earlier 1996 championship, while Matt LaFleur became head coach years later, so neither is the answer for Super Bowl XLV.
