Which manager led Spain to their first FIFA World Cup title in 2010?

The story behind the answer

Vicente del Bosque led Spain to its first FIFA World Cup title in 2010. Spain defeated the Netherlands 1–0 after extra time in the final at Soccer City in Johannesburg, with Andrés Iniesta scoring the decisive goal in the 116th minute.

Del Bosque became Spain’s manager in 2008, succeeding Luis Aragonés, who had guided the team to UEFA Euro 2008. He preserved Spain’s possession-based style while adding his own calm, flexible approach. The 2010 squad was built around stars from Barcelona and Real Madrid, including Xavi, Andrés Iniesta, Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos.

Spain lost its opening group match to Switzerland but recovered to win the tournament. The team won four consecutive knockout matches by a single goal, defeating Portugal, Paraguay, Germany and the Netherlands. Its semifinal victory over Germany came through a Carles Puyol header.

Luis Aragonés is the main source of confusion because he coached Spain immediately before del Bosque and won Euro 2008. However, del Bosque was the manager when Spain captured its first World Cup.
