Which coach led the Milwaukee Bucks to the 2021 NBA championship?
Answer
Mike Budenholzer
Mike Budenholzer led the Milwaukee Bucks to the 2021 NBA championship.
Budenholzer became Milwaukee’s head coach in 2018 after previously coaching the Atlanta Hawks. In the 2020–21 season, he guided the Bucks through a 46–26 regular-season record and a difficult playoff run that included series wins over Miami, Brooklyn and Atlanta.
Milwaukee reached the NBA Finals for the first time since 1974 and faced the Phoenix Suns. The Bucks lost the first two games, then won four straight to take the series 4–2. The championship was Milwaukee’s second, following its 1971 title, and ended a 50-year wait between championships.
Budenholzer is sometimes confused with later Bucks coaches, including Adrian Griffin and Doc Rivers. They coached Milwaukee after the 2021 championship and were not the coach who led that title campaign.
