Which superhero is a main character in The Lego Movie?

Batman is a main character in The Lego Movie. Voiced by Will Arnett, this LEGO version of Batman is a dramatic, self-important superhero who joins Emmet and Wyldstyle’s resistance against Lord Business.

Batman is not the film’s central protagonist—that role belongs to Emmet—but he is one of its most prominent supporting characters. The movie uses familiar Batman traits, including a gravelly voice, brooding attitude, gadgets, and a tragic backstory, while exaggerating them for comedy.

The character’s popularity led to The Lego Batman Movie, released in 2017, with Arnett reprising the role. The film also features other DC heroes, including Superman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Batman’s eventual partner Robin. A common mix-up is assuming Superman is the main superhero because he appears in the story, but Batman has the larger recurring role.
