Jill Ellis led the United States women's national team to back-to-back World Cup titles in 2015 and 2019.
Ellis became the team's permanent head coach in 2014 after serving in several U.S. Soccer coaching roles, including work with youth national teams and as an assistant with the senior side. At the 2015 World Cup in Canada, the United States defeated Japan 5–2 in the final, reclaiming the trophy after a 16-year wait.
Four years later in France, Ellis's team beat the Netherlands 2–0 in the final. The victory made her the first coach to win two Women's World Cup titles consecutively and the only manager to win the women's tournament twice. The United States also became the first team to retain the Women's World Cup since Germany won in 2003 and 2007.
The wrong options are notable U.S. coaches, but they belong to different championship eras: Anson Dorrance coached the 1991 champions, Tony DiCicco led the 1999 winners, and Pia Sundhage coached the United States at the 2011 tournament. Ellis stepped down in 2019.
