Jay-Z joined Beyoncé on the song “Drunk in Love.”
“Drunk in Love” appears on Beyoncé’s self-titled fifth studio album, which was released without advance announcement in December 2013. The recording features Beyoncé’s husband, rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, and became one of the album’s most prominent singles.
The song combines contemporary R&B with hip-hop and was produced by several collaborators, including Boots, Detail, Timbaland, Jerome Harmon, and Beyoncé. Its music video was filmed in black and white and directed by Hype Williams, showing Beyoncé and Jay-Z performing near a beach.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z had collaborated before, including on “Crazy in Love” and “03 Bonnie & Clyde.” “Drunk in Love” is therefore part of a longer musical partnership, not their first recorded collaboration.
