Lady Gaga is featured with Beyoncé on the 2009 single “Telephone.”
The song was recorded for Lady Gaga’s extended play The Fame Monster, released in November 2009. Beyoncé appears as the guest vocalist, and the track was written by Gaga, Rodney Jerkins, LaShawn Daniels, Lazonate Franklin, and Beyoncé.
“Telephone” continues the theme of “The Fame Monster,” which explores different fears associated with fame. In the song, Gaga sings about feeling overwhelmed by calls and messages, while Beyoncé contributes a contrasting vocal section. The production combines dance-pop and electronic elements.
Its music video is a short-form visual sequel to Gaga’s “Paparazzi.” It includes both singers, prison scenes, diner scenes, and a reference to Quentin Tarantino’s film style. The collaboration is sometimes mistaken for a Beyoncé song because of her prominent role, but the single is officially credited to Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé.
