Which Shark Tank investor founded the internet company Broadcast.com?
Answer
Mark Cuban
Answer
Mark Cuban
Mark Cuban founded the internet company Broadcast.com, which later became one of the defining successes of his early business career.
Cuban co-founded AudioNet in 1995 with Christopher Jaeben, and the company streamed sporting events and radio programming online. It was renamed Broadcast.com as its audience and business expanded. The company went public in 1998 and was acquired by Yahoo in 1999 in an all-stock transaction valued at roughly $5.7 billion.
Cuban became a prominent Shark Tank investor years later, but Broadcast.com predates his television role. It is sometimes confused with HDNet, the television network he launched afterward; HDNet was a separate venture. Cuban also became known for owning the Dallas Mavericks and for investing in technology, media, and sports businesses.
