LuminAID is the Shark Tank company that makes inflatable solar lanterns for emergency and outdoor use.
The product was created by Andrea SReshta and Anna Stork, architecture students who wanted a lightweight light source for disaster-relief situations. They developed an inflatable, waterproof lantern that can be packed flat, inflated when needed, and recharged by sunlight.
LuminAID appeared on Shark Tank in 2015. The company’s lanterns are designed for several settings, including emergency preparedness, camping, humanitarian relief, and power outages. Their compact construction makes them easier to transport than many conventional lanterns.
LuminAID is sometimes confused with ordinary solar garden lights or rechargeable camping lamps. Its defining combination is an inflatable body, solar charging, and intended use in emergency or off-grid conditions. The company also operates the Give Light, Get Light program, which distributes lanterns through donations and relief partnerships.
