Scrub Daddy is the reusable sponge created by entrepreneur Aaron Krause.
Krause developed the polymer cleaning material before creating the smiling sponge design that became Scrub Daddy. Its texture changes with water temperature: it becomes firmer in cold water and softer in warm water, allowing different cleaning uses.
Krause presented the product on Shark Tank in 2012 and accepted an investment from Lori Greiner. Scrub Daddy later became one of the show’s most commercially successful products and expanded into additional cleaning tools.
The smile-shaped face is functional rather than merely decorative. The mouth can hold the edges of utensils, while the eye openings help users grip the sponge. Scrub Daddy is sometimes confused with ordinary foam sponges, but its temperature-responsive polymer is the product’s central innovation.
