Mark Cuban first appeared as a Shark on Shark Tank in 2011.
Cuban joined the investor panel during the show’s second season. His technology background, outspoken negotiating style, and willingness to make large offers quickly made him one of the program’s best-known investors.
Before appearing on television, Cuban built businesses in the computer and internet industries. He co-founded Broadcast.com, which Yahoo acquired in 1999, and later became owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team.
The year 2011 is distinct from Shark Tank’s American premiere year, 2009. Cuban was not part of the original first-season panel; he joined after the series had already established its format and audience. His arrival is therefore often used as a milestone in the show’s early history.
