Fantastic Beasts is the screenwriting film series J.K. Rowling created as a spin-off from the Harry Potter world.
Rowling wrote the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, released in 2016. The film follows Newt Scamander, a magizoologist whose magical creatures escape in New York City in 1926.
The story is set decades before Harry Potter’s time at Hogwarts. It expands the wizarding world beyond Britain and introduces historical conflicts involving figures such as Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald.
The film series consists of three released movies: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Crimes of Grindelwald and The Secrets of Dumbledore. The concept draws its title from a fictional Hogwarts textbook also associated with Newt Scamander.
