Which screenplay was J.K. Rowling’s first credited screenwriting work?

The story behind the answer

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was J.K. Rowling’s first credited screenwriting work.

The 2016 film was written by Rowling and directed by David Yates. It is set in the wizarding world decades before the Harry Potter story and follows magizoologist Newt Scamander in 1926 New York. The screenplay expanded a short Hogwarts textbook presented as a fictional book within the Harry Potter series.

Rowling had previously written the Harry Potter novels, but she had not been credited as the screenwriter of their film adaptations. Fantastic Beasts therefore marked her formal screenwriting debut, even though it drew on characters, mythology, and terminology she had developed earlier.
