Which running back is the cover athlete for the 2024 game Madden NFL 25?

The running back on the cover of the 2024 game Madden NFL 25 is Christian McCaffrey.

McCaffrey was featured as the standard-edition cover athlete for EA Sports’ 2024 Madden NFL 25. He represented the San Francisco 49ers, the team he joined in 2022 after beginning his career with the Carolina Panthers. His selection recognized a dominant 2023 season in which he led the NFL in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns and was named AP Offensive Player of the Year.

This Madden NFL 25 is the second game to use that title. The earlier Madden NFL 25, released in 2013, celebrated the franchise’s 25th anniversary and featured Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders. The 2024 title instead marked the series’ 35th installment, so the repeated name can easily confuse players.

McCaffrey was also notable historically: he became the first running back to appear on a Madden cover since Adrian Peterson was featured on the 2013 “new school” edition. A cover appearance is a marketing honor, not an award voted on by the game’s players, and it does not identify the game’s highest-rated athlete.
