Which pseudonymous author wrote the Hogwarts textbook Quidditch Through the Ages?

The story behind the answer

Kennilworthy Whisp is the pseudonymous author of the Hogwarts textbook Quidditch Through the Ages.

The book is presented as a work about the history and development of Quidditch, the wizarding sport played on broomsticks. In the fictional library, it is attributed to Whisp, whose name appears on the cover and in the bibliographic framing of the book.

J.K. Rowling published Quidditch Through the Ages in 2001 as one of two charity companion books connected with the Harry Potter series. The other was Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, attributed within the fiction to Newt Scamander. Proceeds from the original editions supported Comic Relief.

Readers sometimes confuse Whisp with other fictional textbook authors. Bathilda Bagshot wrote A History of Magic, while Newt Scamander wrote Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Those are separate in-universe works.
