Which pseudonym did J.K. Rowling use when publishing The Silkworm?
Answer
Robert Galbraith
Answer
Robert Galbraith
J.K. Rowling used the pseudonym Robert Galbraith when publishing The Silkworm.
Released in 2014, The Silkworm is the second novel in the Cormoran Strike series. The plot follows private investigator Strike as he investigates the disappearance and murder of novelist Owen Quine. Quine has written a highly offensive manuscript that satirizes people in his life, giving the mystery a literary setting.
The book followed The Cuckoo’s Calling, the first Strike novel, which had also been published under the Robert Galbraith name. Rowling’s authorship of that earlier book became public in 2013, but the Galbraith name remained the credited pseudonym for the series.
The Silkworm is sometimes mistaken for a Harry Potter companion title because Rowling’s name is associated primarily with fantasy. It is instead an adult detective novel, with recurring characters Strike and Robin Ellacott. The series’ title and publication identity separate it from Rowling’s wizarding fiction.
