Which police detective earns Spider-Man’s trust in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Police detective Jean DeWolff earns Spider-Man’s trust in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

DeWolff is portrayed as a law-enforcement figure who recognizes Spider-Man's value while also challenging him to control his increasingly dangerous powers. Her role connects Peter's private struggle with the consequences of superhero activity in the city.

Liza Colón-Zayas plays Jean DeWolff in the film. The character comes from Marvel Comics, where she is strongly associated with Spider-Man's New York police stories and his complicated relationship with official authority.

Jean DeWolff is not the same character as Jean Grey. Grey is the young mutant and telepath played by Sadie Sink, while DeWolff is a detective played by Colón-Zayas. Their shared first name is an intentional potential source of confusion.
