Which Pokémon becomes Ash’s first fully evolved Fire-type partner in the Pokémon TV series?

The story behind the answer

Charizard becomes Ash’s first fully evolved Fire-type partner in the Pokémon TV series. It begins as a Charmander that Ash rescues and later evolves through Charmeleon into Charizard.

Charmander joins Ash after its previous Trainer abandons it. Ash’s care helps the Pokémon recover, but Charizard becomes increasingly independent after evolving. Its disobedience creates one of the original series’ best-known training challenges, especially during battles against stronger opponents.

Charizard eventually recognizes Ash’s strength and loyalty. It plays major roles in important battles, including Ash’s Orange Islands journey and later appearances. Ash also owns other notable Fire-type Pokémon, such as Infernape and Talonflame, but Charizard is the earliest of these to become fully evolved.
