Tracey Sketchit is Ash’s traveling companion who replaces Brock in the Orange Islands arc of the Pokémon TV series.
Tracey joins Ash and Misty after Ash reaches the Orange Islands. He is a Pokémon Watcher who studies Pokémon by observing them and making drawings in his sketchbook. His interests make him different from Brock, whose main focus is Pokémon breeding and whose role often includes caring for the group.
Tracey travels with Ash through the Orange Islands and later becomes an assistant to Professor Oak at the laboratory in Pallet Town. His Pokémon partners include Venonat, Marill, and Scyther.
Brock is absent from the Orange Islands storyline because he remains with Professor Ivy after the group reaches the islands. Brock later returns to Ash’s traveling group. Tracey is therefore associated particularly with the Orange Islands and the transition between the original Kanto journey and the Johto adventures.
