What is the name of the Pokémon anime’s original Team Rocket trio?

The Pokémon anime’s original Team Rocket trio is Jessie, James, and Meowth.

Jessie and James are human members of Team Rocket, while Meowth is the talking Pokémon who travels with them. The trio repeatedly attempts to capture Pikachu for their boss, Giovanni, but their plans usually end with them being blasted away.

Unlike most Pokémon, Meowth can speak human language. The anime explains that he taught himself to walk and talk after trying to impress another Meowth. Jessie, James, and Meowth became recurring comic antagonists rather than ordinary one-episode villains.

Giovanni is Team Rocket’s leader, not a member of the travelling trio. Cassidy and Butch are also Team Rocket agents who appear as rivals, but they are a separate pair. The trio’s distinctive motto and repeated defeats became trademarks of the television series.
