Which platform hosted the first release of Resident Evil Code: Veronica?

The story behind the answer

The Sega Dreamcast hosted the first release of Resident Evil Code: Veronica.

Capcom released Code: Veronica for the Dreamcast in February 2000, making it the first main Resident Evil game built for a 128-bit console. Unlike earlier numbered entries, it used fully 3D environments rather than pre-rendered backgrounds, while retaining the series’ exploration, puzzles, and resource management.

The story follows Claire Redfield after she is captured by Umbrella and taken to Rockfort Island. It later expands to Antarctica and includes Chris Redfield as another central playable character. The game also continues the conflict involving the Ashford family and the Veronica virus.

A frequent error is identifying the PlayStation as the original platform, because Code: Veronica later appeared in an expanded form as Code: Veronica X on other systems. The original launch, however, was specifically a Dreamcast release.
