Cars 3 introduced the rival racer Jackson Storm.
Jackson Storm is a high-tech competitor from a newer generation of racers. His speed and advanced training expose the limitations of Lightning McQueen’s older racing approach. The conflict forms the central sporting challenge of Cars 3, released in 2017.
Storm represents the rapid modernization of professional racing. His design is sleek and aerodynamic, contrasting with McQueen’s more traditional appearance. Armie Hammer provides the character’s voice in the English-language version.
Cars 3 focuses on McQueen’s attempt to remain competitive while deciding what kind of future he wants. His relationship with Cruz Ramirez shifts the story from a simple rivalry toward mentorship. The film’s climax gives Cruz a major role in the final race while McQueen adopts a new identity as a coach and competitor.
