Cars 3 introduced Jackson Storm as Lightning McQueen’s new-generation rival.
Jackson Storm is a sleek, highly advanced race car from a younger generation of competitors. He defeats established racers with superior speed and technology, forcing Lightning to confront the possibility that his career is nearing its end.
Cars 3 was directed by Brian Fee and released by Walt Disney Pictures in 2017. Its story returns the focus to Lightning’s racing career after Cars 2 expanded the franchise into an international spy adventure. Lightning trains with Cruz Ramirez, a racing technician who becomes important to his comeback.
Storm is voiced by Armie Hammer. He is distinct from Chick Hicks, who is Lightning’s main rival in the first Cars, and Francesco Bernoulli, the Formula-style racer who challenges him in Cars 2.
