Cars 3 features Jackson Storm as Lightning McQueen’s main rival.
Storm is a next-generation racer whose advanced simulation training, aerodynamics and technology give him a major advantage over older competitors. His rise makes McQueen question whether experience can compete with the new generation of racing machines.
The conflict begins when Storm dominates the Piston Cup season and McQueen suffers a serious crash while trying to keep pace. McQueen’s comeback leads him to train with Cruz Ramirez and learn from racing history, including the legacy of Doc Hudson and the Fabulous Hudson Hornet.
Storm is voiced by Armie Hammer. He is sometimes confused with Chick Hicks, McQueen’s principal rival in the first Cars film. Chick is an aggressive veteran racer, while Jackson Storm represents the technologically advanced generation introduced in Cars 3.
