Fillmore is the Pixar Cars character modeled after a 1960 Volkswagen Type 2 bus.
Fillmore is Radiator Springs’ peace-loving hippie-style character and the owner of Fillmore’s Organic Fuel. His design resembles the classic Volkswagen Type 2, a vehicle strongly associated with the counterculture movement and camper-van travel of the 1960s and 1970s.
The character’s name also recalls George Carlin’s performance as Fillmore in the original film. Fillmore frequently promotes alternative fuel and environmental ideas, while his neighbor Sarge prefers military discipline and traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.
Fillmore should not be confused with Sarge, who is based on a 1942 Willys military jeep, or Ramone, who is modeled after a 1959 Chevrolet Impala lowrider. The different designs help make Radiator Springs’ residents visually distinct.
