Which novel concludes J.K. Rowling’s seven-book Harry Potter series?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows concludes J.K. Rowling’s seven-book Harry Potter series.

The novel was published on 21 July 2007. It follows Harry, Ron and Hermione as they leave Hogwarts to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes, objects linked to Voldemort’s immortality. The book also resolves the significance of the three Deathly Hallows: the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone and the Invisibility Cloak.

The previous book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, ends with Dumbledore’s death and leaves the main conflict unfinished. That cliffhanger is why the two titles are sometimes confused as the conclusion. The Deathly Hallows publication completed Rowling’s original seven-novel sequence, although later theatrical and supplementary works expanded the wider Wizarding World.
