Which Need for Speed game introduced the Autosculpt feature?

The story behind the answer

Need for Speed: Carbon introduced the Autosculpt feature.

Autosculpt was Carbon's signature customization innovation, allowing players to reshape selected exterior parts instead of choosing only from fixed body-kit designs. Players could adjust components such as bumpers, hoods, spoilers, side skirts, roof scoops, and some wheels to create more individualized cars.

The feature arrived with Carbon in 2006, during a period when the Need for Speed series was strongly associated with street-racing culture and visual tuning. EA promoted it as part of a larger customization system containing more than 300 parts. Carbon also expanded decal and vinyl editing, letting players layer, resize, reshape, and position designs across the vehicle.

ProStreet is a frequent source of confusion because it followed Carbon and retained Autosculpt. In ProStreet, however, the system was expanded so some sculpted parts could affect performance, alongside aerodynamic testing in a wind tunnel. Carbon's version was primarily visual. The portable game Need for Speed: Carbon – Own the City is another exception: it did not include the console and PC edition's Autosculpt function.
