All races in Need for Speed: Underground take place in which fictional city?

The story behind the answer

All races in Need for Speed: Underground take place in the fictional city of Olympic City.

Olympic City is presented as a dense nighttime setting for the game’s illegal street-racing scene. Its design is based mainly on Seattle, while the name references nearby Olympic National Park. The city’s roads, tunnels, industrial areas, and urban districts provide the backdrop for circuit, sprint, drag, drift, and time-trial events.

A frequent mix-up comes from other Need for Speed settings. Bayview is the open-world city in Underground 2, while Rockport is the setting of Most Wanted (2005). Fairhaven belongs to the 2012 reboot of Most Wanted. Those locations are all associated with street racing, but they are not Underground’s city.

Olympic City also helps define Underground’s identity: unlike earlier entries focused on exotic cars and scenic highways, this game emphasizes import culture, visual customization, neon-lit streets, and a continuous underground-racing narrative.
