Which Need for Speed game features the fictional city of Palmont?

The story behind the answer

Need for Speed: Carbon features the fictional city of Palmont.

Released in 2006, Carbon follows the events of Need for Speed: Most Wanted and brings the player back to Palmont, a city controlled by rival street-racing crews. Its career mode centers on capturing territories from those crews and eventually confronting Darius, the leader of the Stacked Deck.

Palmont is divided into four main boroughs: Kempton, Downtown, Fortuna, and Silverton. The city is also surrounded by East, West, and Carbon canyons, which host the game's distinctive downhill races and Canyon Duels. A separate fictional town, San Juan, appears as an introductory area before the player reaches Palmont.

A common mix-up is confusing Palmont with Rockport, the setting of Most Wanted. Carbon's story begins after the protagonist leaves Rockport, but its main open world is Palmont. The game's title also refers to Carbon Canyon, one of the major canyon areas surrounding the city.
