Italy won the most gold medals at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
Italy finished at the top of the medal table with 10 gold medals. Its full medal haul was 22 medals: 10 gold, six silver and six bronze. Medal-table ranking was determined by gold-medal totals, followed by the other medal categories when necessary.
Great Britain and Northern Ireland finished second by gold medals with nine, while Germany won six gold medals. This is why the gold-medal leader was Italy even though Germany collected more silver medals.
Italian champions included athletes from track, field and race walking. The country’s result made it the leading gold-medal nation across the championships’ 50-event programme.
