Which manager led Leicester City to the 2015-16 Premier League title?

The story behind the answer

Claudio Ranieri led Leicester City to the 2015–16 Premier League title.

Leicester appointed the experienced Italian manager in July 2015 after Nigel Pearson’s departure. The choice initially attracted skepticism: Leicester had narrowly avoided relegation the previous season, while Ranieri had recently left the Greece job after a shock defeat by the Faroe Islands.

Under Ranieri, Leicester built an exceptionally effective team around rapid counterattacks, disciplined defending, and the attacking partnership of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. Vardy scored in 11 consecutive Premier League matches, while N’Golo Kanté anchored the midfield. Bookmakers had rated Leicester’s title chances at 5,000–1 before the season.

Leicester were confirmed champions on May 2, 2016, after Tottenham drew 2–2 with Chelsea. They finished with 81 points—23 wins, 12 draws, and only three defeats—and won the top-flight title for the first time in club history. Ranieri’s later dismissal in February 2017 does not change who managed the title-winning campaign.
