NPD data reported that the PlayStation 2 version alone sold about 2.8 million copies during 2006, making it the year’s best-selling U.S. game. Combined sales across platforms later exceeded 7 million copies, with published estimates varying slightly by measurement period and source.
Its success reflected the enormous installed base of the PlayStation 2, as well as the game’s availability on newer systems. Madden NFL 07 was also an early showcase for the PlayStation 3 and Wii, while versions appeared on Xbox 360, Xbox, GameCube, PSP, Game Boy Advance, and PC.
