The Palace Theatre hosted the 2016 premiere of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The play premiered in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre on 30 July 2016, with previews beginning earlier that month. Rowling developed the story with writer Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany. Thorne wrote the published script, while Tiffany directed the stage production.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set nineteen years after the events of the main seven-book story. It follows Harry Potter as an adult and his son Albus Severus Potter, whose experience at Hogwarts drives the central conflict. The Palace Theatre, a historic venue near Cambridge Circus, became closely associated with the production. The play is not an eighth prose novel by Rowling; its published text is the script of the stage play.
