Which London railway station features Platform 9¾ in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels?

The story behind the answer

King’s Cross station features Platform 9¾ in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels. The hidden platform is the departure point for the Hogwarts Express, which takes students to Hogwarts at the start of the school year.

In the books, Platform 9¾ lies between the ordinary platforms numbered 9 and 10. At the real station, the physical arrangement of platforms did not match the fictional description, so a commemorative trolley installation was created in the station concourse.

King’s Cross is in central London and is distinct from nearby St Pancras station. The fictional platform has become one of the most recognisable real-world locations associated with the Harry Potter series.
