Which London railway station appears in the Harry Potter films as the entrance to Platform 9¾?

The story behind the answer

King’s Cross Station appears in the Harry Potter films as the entrance to Platform 9¾.

In the books and films, young witches and wizards reach the Hogwarts Express by passing through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10 at King’s Cross. The station is therefore the departure point for Harry’s journeys to Hogwarts and the location of several important scenes.

The real station is in central London and opened in 1852. Its Harry Potter connection made the fictional platform a major visitor attraction, even though the real railway platforms 9 and 10 are separated by tracks and do not have the exact barrier arrangement shown in the stories.

A nearby station, St Pancras, is often confused with King’s Cross because its distinctive Gothic exterior appears prominently in film imagery. The Hogwarts platform, however, is associated with King’s Cross.
