Answer
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone introduced the wizarding sport of Quidditch.
The first Harry Potter novel presents Quidditch during Harry’s early time at Hogwarts. Harry watches a match, joins the Gryffindor team as Seeker, and learns the sport’s basic structure, including the Quaffle, Bludgers, and Golden Snitch. The game becomes an important part of his school life and identity.
Quidditch is played by two teams of seven players on flying broomsticks. Chasers handle the Quaffle, Beaters defend their teammates and hit Bludgers, and each team has a Keeper and a Seeker. Catching the Golden Snitch traditionally ends the match and awards 150 points, although the score can make that catch strategically complicated.
Rowling later expanded the fictional sport’s history and rules in Quidditch Through the Ages, a charity companion volume published under the name Kennilworthy Whisp. That later book is not the work that first introduced Quidditch to readers.
