Which J.K. Rowling book introduced private detective Cormoran Strike?
Answer
The Cuckoo’s Calling
Answer
The Cuckoo’s Calling
The Cuckoo’s Calling introduced J.K. Rowling’s private detective Cormoran Strike.
The crime novel was published in 2013 under the name Robert Galbraith. Cormoran Strike is a former military investigator who works as a private detective in London. He is assisted by Robin Ellacott, whose temporary role develops into a central professional partnership.
The case begins when model Lula Landry dies after falling from a London balcony. Strike is hired by her brother, John Bristow, who doubts the official conclusion that she committed suicide. The investigation forms the first entry in the series.
Rowling’s authorship was revealed later in 2013. After that disclosure, subsequent editions identified the connection, but the books continued to use Robert Galbraith as the author name. The Cuckoo’s Calling should therefore not be confused with The Casual Vacancy, Rowling’s first adult novel, which appeared under her own name.
