Which investor joined Dragon's Den in its fifth series in 2007?

The story behind the answer

James Caan joined Dragon's Den in its fifth series in 2007.

Caan became a Dragon after building a career in recruitment and private equity. He founded recruitment businesses including Alexander Mann and Humana International, and later worked through Hamilton Bradshaw, an investment firm. Those experiences shaped his interest in companies with clear commercial potential and strong management.

His arrival was part of the programme’s continuing panel rotation. Dragon's Den regularly changes its investors so that new sectors, personalities and investment approaches enter the den. Caan appeared alongside established figures such as Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden during his period on the show.

He is sometimes confused with other later Dragons because the series has had a large number of investors. Theo Paphitis and Richard Farleigh were already associated with earlier panels, while Nick Jenkins joined much later. The specific milestone is Caan’s entry in the fifth series, which was broadcast in 2007.
