Steven Bartlett became a Dragon on the BBC programme Dragon’s Den in 2022, becoming its youngest investor.
Bartlett joined the panel after building Social Chain, a social-media marketing company he co-founded with Dominic McGregor. He was born in Botswana in 1992 and later became known for The Diary of a CEO podcast, which broadened his public profile beyond technology and marketing.
His appointment marked a generational change for the programme. At 29, he was younger than previous regular Dragons and brought experience from digital businesses, online communities and creator-led media. His investment interests therefore differed from the more traditional retail, manufacturing and property backgrounds represented by several earlier panel members.
The appointment is sometimes confused with the arrival of Sara Davies, another relatively young Dragon. Davies joined the panel earlier, in 2019, whereas Bartlett’s notable distinction was becoming the youngest Dragon when he joined.
