Which indie rock band's 2003 album 'Give Up' was released on Sub Pop?
Answer
The Postal Service
Answer
The Postal Service
The Postal Service released the 2003 album Give Up on Sub Pop. The project joined Ben Gibbard, singer of Death Cab for Cutie, with electronic musician Jimmy Tamborello, also known as Dntel. Their collaboration began with “This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan” before expanding into a full album.
Give Up was released on February 19, 2003, and became an unexpected success for the independent Seattle label. Its best-known songs include “Such Great Heights,” “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight,” and “We Will Become Silhouettes.” Jenny Lewis and Jen Wood also contributed vocals, while Death Cab’s Chris Walla played on several tracks.
A common mix-up is choosing Death Cab for Cutie because Gibbard was that band’s frontman. Give Up, however, is credited to his separate electronic-pop duo. The album eventually became Sub Pop’s second-biggest seller, behind Nirvana’s Bleach, and remains The Postal Service’s only studio album.
