Which indie rock band released the 2013 album 'Modern Vampires of the City'?

The story behind the answer

Vampire Weekend released the 2013 album 'Modern Vampires of the City'. It is the American indie rock band's third studio album and was issued by XL Recordings on May 14, 2013.

The band began writing songs during soundchecks on the tour for its previous album, 'Contra'. Recording continued in several locations, including Rostam Batmanglij's apartment in New York and studios in Los Angeles. Batmanglij and Ariel Rechtshaid co-produced the record, marking the first time the group brought in an outside producer.

The album's darker, more experimental sound explored aging, mortality, adult responsibility, and religious faith. Its title comes from a lyric in Junior Reid's 1990 song 'One Blood'. The cover uses a 1966 photograph of smog-covered New York City by Neal Boenzi, a detail sometimes missed when the album is confused with Vampire Weekend's earlier self-titled debut or 'Contra'. The record debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and won the 2014 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.
