Which Hungarian-born animator co-created Rugrats?

The story behind the answer

The Hungarian-born animator who co-created Rugrats is Gábor Csupó.

Born in Budapest in 1952, Csupó trained at Hungary’s Pannónia Filmstúdió before leaving the country in 1975. After working in Sweden, he met American animator Arlene Klasky. They later founded the animation studio Klasky Csupo, which became central to Rugrats’ production.

Rugrats was created by the three-person creative team of Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó, and Paul Germain. Csupó was not the show’s sole creator, but he was its Hungarian-born co-creator and a key executive producer. The studio also worked on The Simpsons, Duckman, The Wild Thornberrys, and Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.

A common mix-up is choosing Arlene Klasky, Paul Germain, or John Kricfalusi. Klasky and Germain were also co-creators, while Kricfalusi was associated with The Ren & Stimpy Show, not Rugrats.
