Which Hogwarts house was J.K. Rowling’s favourite among the four houses?

Hufflepuff was J.K. Rowling’s favourite among the four Hogwarts houses.

Hufflepuff is one of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’s four houses in Rowling’s fiction. It was founded by Helga Hufflepuff, who valued hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play. Its house colours are yellow and black, and its emblematic animal is the badger.

Harry Potter is sorted into Gryffindor, while Hermione Granger also belongs to Gryffindor and Luna Lovegood belongs to Ravenclaw. Hufflepuff is therefore not the house of the main trio, though important characters such as Cedric Diggory are members.

Rowling has publicly identified Hufflepuff as her favourite house, praising its members for qualities that are sometimes overlooked beside bravery, intelligence, or ambition. The house’s common room is located near the kitchens in the novels.
