Which Hogwarts headmaster does J.K. Rowling reveal was the first master of the Elder Wand?

The story behind the answer

Antioch Peverell was the first master of the Elder Wand in J.K. Rowling's wizarding lore.

The tale of the three Peverell brothers appears in The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a book introduced in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. According to the legend, Death gave Antioch Peverell a wand more powerful than any other. That object became known as the Elder Wand.

The wand's later history includes a chain of owners gained through defeat rather than simple possession. Antioch was killed after boasting about the wand, and its allegiance eventually passed through figures including Gellert Grindelwald, Albus Dumbledore, Draco Malfoy, and Harry Potter.

A common mix-up is naming Dumbledore as the first master. Dumbledore was a later owner and defeated Grindelwald, but the wand's legendary origin is tied to Antioch. Ignotus Peverell, by contrast, was associated with the Invisibility Cloak.
