Which Hogwarts founder created the house associated with wit and learning in J.K. Rowling’s series?

The story behind the answer

Rowena Ravenclaw created Ravenclaw house in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.

Rowena Ravenclaw was one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Ravenclaw house is associated with intelligence, creativity, learning, and wit. Its emblem is an eagle, and its traditional colors are blue and bronze in the books.

The character’s role is mainly part of Hogwarts history rather than the central action of the novels. Her daughter, Helena Ravenclaw, became the Grey Lady, the ghost associated with Ravenclaw house. Helena’s history is important in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because Harry must learn about the Ravenclaw diadem.

Ravenclaw is often mistakenly represented with a raven because of the house name. In the books, however, the emblem is an eagle. The founders are Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin.
