Bloomsbury published the book in the United Kingdom on 21 July 2007. It completes Harry’s conflict with Lord Voldemort and resolves the central mysteries developed throughout the series, including the significance of the Deathly Hallows.

The title is sometimes mixed up with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which is the sixth novel. The Half-Blood Prince was published in 2005, two years before Deathly Hallows.

The final book was adapted into two films. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 was released in 2010, followed by Part 2 in 2011. The split made the film series longer than the book series.
