Which Harry Potter film was the first to be produced by J.K. Rowling?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 was the first Harry Potter film produced by J.K. Rowling.

Released in 2010, the film adapted the first half of Rowling’s final Harry Potter novel. David Yates directed it, with Steve Kloves writing the screenplay. Rowling served as a producer, making this the first film in the series to include her in that production role rather than crediting her only as the original author.

The story follows Harry, Ron and Hermione after they leave Hogwarts to search for Voldemort’s Horcruxes. Because the final book contained a large amount of plot and character material, the filmmakers divided its adaptation into two feature films. Part 2 followed in 2011 and completed the main cinematic story.

People sometimes identify Part 2 as Rowling’s first produced film because it contains the series’ final events. The production credit began with Part 1, while Part 2 was the concluding chapter released the following year.
