Which Harry Potter film was the final movie in J.K. Rowling's original story series?

The story behind the answer

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was the final film in J.K. Rowling’s original Harry Potter story series.

The film was released in 2011 and adapts the second half of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It depicts the conclusion of Harry’s conflict with Lord Voldemort, including the Battle of Hogwarts and the resolution of the central story. David Yates directed the film, and Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson played Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

The adaptation of the seventh novel was split into two films. Part 1 was released in 2010 and follows Harry, Ron, and Hermione after they leave Hogwarts to search for Horcruxes. Part 2 continues that mission and brings the film series to its ending.

The movie is sometimes confused with Fantastic Beasts, a separate film series set earlier in the wizarding world. It is also distinct from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which was the sixth film and was released in 2009.
